About the programme
The Future of White Metallurgy is ChelPipe Group's training programme is designed to provide a constant supply of skilled workers for the Russian metallurgical industry. Since 2011, the programme has been implemented on the basis of a public–private partnership between ChelPipe Group, the Government of the Sverdlovsk Region, and Pervouralsk Metallurgical College.
The training programme leverages a dual model originating from Germany. Hands-on classes are held at advanced training centres and cutting-edge White Metallurgy production facilities.
Partnership with schools
ChelPipe Group engages in close cooperation with schools. Most applicants under the Future of White Metallurgy programme are ninth graders with an average school score of 4 (on a five-point scoring scale).
Admission campaign in 2018
The programme covered two Russian regions – the Sverdlovsk and Chelyabinsk regions, with three educational institutions (two in the Middle Ural Region and one in the South Ural Region) supporting the Group in implementing its training project.
White Metallurgy vocational schools
The Future of White Metallurgy, ChelPipe Group’s corporate programme, is implemented on the basis of a public–private partnership with the Government of the Sverdlovsk Region and Pervouralsk Metallurgical College, while also benefiting from close ties with the Government of the Chelyabinsk Region and Yakovlev Chelyabinsk State Industrial and Humanitarian School. On top of that, the company draws support from the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan to train engineering professionals at Almetyevsk Vocational School.
Affiliated military unit
ChelPipe Group initiated an agreement between the Central Military District and the Sverdlovsk Region’s Ministry of Education to provide graduates of the Training Centre with an opportunity to serve in a military unit close to Yekaterinburg.
In the military unit, graduates can develop additional skills, including in sports training or computer science, and master a variety of new professions (aircraft dispatching, communications operation, driving, etc.). ChelPipe Group provides corporate assistance to the affiliated military unit.
Partnership with universities
In addition to running its own training programme, ChelPipe Group cooperates with Boris Yeltsin Ural Federal University, South Ural State University and MISiS (National University of Science and Technology) in an attempt to build an engineering talent pool for Russia’s cutting-edge metallurgical enterprises. The next generation of world-class professionals undergo training at the company's sites in Moscow, Chelyabinsk and Pervouralsk to be further recruited as engineers, lead experts and managers of ChelPipe Group’s key business units.
