The Baltic Pipeline System 2 is designed to diversify oil supplies to Western Europe by redistributing shipments from foreign ports to the Russian port in the Baltic Sea.

The project's first and second stages have a capacity of 30 and 50 mtpa of oil, respectively. The pipeline system runs across Bryansk, Smolensk, Tver, Novgorod and Leningrad regions. Its construction was completed in 2012, with costs estimated at USD 2 bln.
The 1,300 km-long Baltic Pipeline System 2 uses 1,067 mm pipes, including large-diameter ones made by Chelyabinsk Pipe Rolling Plant.
