TAPI (Turkmenistan – Afghanistan – Pakistan – India) trunkline
Approximately 200 km of the pipeline in Turkmenistan will be built using ChelPipe Group’s 1,422 mm X70 steel pipes with external corrosion-resistant coating. ChelPipe Group is the only Russian company to have passed all the qualification stages, and its supply conditions were the best of those offered by 94 bidders.
For the construction of the Saryarka trunkline, ChelPipe Group supplied over 130,000 tonnes of pipe and pipeline components. The 820 mm K60 steel pipes with a wall thickness of 12, 14 and 18 mm have external and internal corrosion-resistant coating. The pipes were manufactured by Chelyabinsk Pipe Rolling Plant (part of ChelPipe Group).
Nord Stream 2
ChelPipe Group supplies three-layer coated pipes for Nord Stream 2. In total, to build a gas pipeline on the bottom of the Baltic Sea, ChelPipe Group shipped in 2016–2018 around 600 kt of LDP. We also remain the only supplier of low-temperature LDPs to build the near-shore part of the pipeline.
Launch of ETERNO
ChelPipe Group launches ETERNO LLC manufacturing stamp-welded pipeline parts using nanostructured materials. It boasts advanced technology, production process and working culture. The new import substitution facilities were launched by the country’s President Vladimir Putin.
The Agglomerated Flux project
ChelPipe Group doubled its agglomerated flux capacities by putting the second phase of the project into operation. Now the company is able to deliver proprietary “ceramics” for its own LDPs, and sell excess product to third parties.
Establishment of the PNTZ Training Centre
Launch of the corporate «The Future of METAllurgy» training programme and construction of the PNTZ Training Centre. Pervouralsk Pipe Plant, the Government of Sverdlovsk Region and Pervouralsk Metallurgical College signed an agreement on creating a unique training programme.
METAllurgy concept creation
ChelPipe Group launches its cutting-edge Vysota 239 plant for the production of large-diameter single-seam pipes and Iron Ozone 32 electric arc furnace plant.
ChelPipe Group acquired 100% of shares of Pipeline Connecting Bends company (SOT CJSC) specialising in the production of pipeline elbows and assemblies, and 100% of shares of MSA, a manufacturer of pipeline valves.
Launch of the Finishing Centre
The official opening ceremony of the Finishing Centre for the production and processing of oil pipes. Finishing Centre capacities include a coupling production floor, pipe heat treatment line, pipe end upsetting area, pipe NDT site, and tubing and casing pipes threading lines. Investments in the project total RUB 6 bln.
Acqusition of META and Rimera
ChelPipe Group acquired META (META LLC), a scrap company and Rimera (Rimera CJSC) specialised in oilfield services and equipment.
Acquisition of PNTZ
The company acquired 57% of the share capital of Pervouralsk Pipe Plant (PNTZ JSC). In May 2008, ChelPipe increased its stake to 84.5%, and in December 2008 acquired 100% of PNTZ.
Refurbishment of main plants
In the 1970s through 90s, the company refurbished its main plants to boost annual pipe output. Domestic demand for tubular products surged driven by the recovery and rapid development of the oil and gas industry.
World's largest pipe plant
In the 1970s and 80s, we became the world's leading pipe manufacturer with an output of up to 3.5 mtpa. Our pipes were used in the country’s main pipelines, including Druzhba, Bukhara-Ural, Central Asia-Centre, Urengoy-Pomary-Uzhgorod, Surgut-Polotsk, Siyaniye Severa, etc.
ChelPipe Group kicks off cold-rolled pipe production with improved mechanical properties and high-accuracy geometry, as well as launches the production of blade spars for MI-26, a heavy transport helicopter.
Launch of LDP production
We were the first company globally to manufacture large-diameter pipes welding two half-cylinders. This news, supported by a photograph of the first pipe with a caption “A pipe for you, Adenauer!!” engraved on it, was a response by the plant's workers to restrictions on large-diameter pipe supplies from West Germany to the USSR.
First ChelPipe products
Resulted from painstaking efforts of our employees working 12–18 hours a day. During the war, Chelyabinsk Pipe Plant was among the suppliers of the Soviet Army, particularly, providing large bombs to the frontline.
